Mental Health First Aid Training
Mental Health illness is one of Australia’s biggest disease burdens after cancer and heart disease and in any given year it effects 1 in 5 Adults.
You may know someone, a family member, a work colleague, a neighbour, a friend, who appears confused and not quite themselves of late, or know someone you think may be having suicidal thoughts.
CATES Training empowers you with the necessary skills, knowledge and confidence to help those who need the help most when they are experiencing mental health problems either in the workplace or within their personal lives.
The Standard Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course teaches Managers, Support Workers, Case Workers, Teachers and Members of the Public how to assist someone who is developing a mental health problem, exhibiting confused behaviour or in a mental health crisis.
MHFA is the help given to someone developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis.
MHFA is given until appropriate professional treatment is received or until the crisis resolves.
MHFA training guides you through ALGEE; a 5 step action plan approach to help you effectively manage the above issues as a mental health first aider.

Kate’s courses are delivered professionally but with a human element.. “One of Kate’s courses was MHFA which I attended. Kate’s presentation looked at mental health problems we have in today’s society, at all different angles and only recently I had to use my skills taught to me to help save a life. Kate’s courses are delivered professionally but with a human element to which helps students understand the course material with a splash of humour. I have no hesitation in recommending any of Kate’s courses for people to attend as they are very relevant to the current mental health concerns.”
