Kate Erne

I have a Masters in Education (M.Ed) a Dip TAA & TAE4. For the past 22 years I have worked in the field of Vocational Teaching, Community Services and particularly in Disability Employment Services specialising in Mental Illness.

From 2002 to Jan 2015 I was employed by Uniting Care Wesely Port Adelaide in a number of roles such as, Training Coordinator, Program Business Manager (Australian Disability Enterprise) and Program Manager (Work Skills Development).

From January 2015 I commenced my own business venture, Community Awareness Training & Education Services (CATES), delivering various training workshops to Community Service organisations. MHFA has featured highly on the agenda leading to some organisations applying for the MHFA Skilled Workplaces recognition initiative.

Previously in the UK I worked in the Vocational Education Training (VET) sector teaching/curriculum development/work-placement -16 to 19 year olds with behavioral issues and poor levels of numeracy and literacy undertaking foundation programs which led them to mainstream qualifications and chosen career paths.

I enjoy working collaboratively to improve the mental health literacy of the workforce and the community. I have delivered well-being/building resilience courses to year 12 students leading up to exam times to help reduce anxiety and I have organised numerous educational forums/exhibitions.

I am an engaging facilitator with an ability to adapt to various learning styles, personalities and a wide range of audiences. I look forward to delivering Mental Health First Aid to meet your individual and organisational need.
